Yoga and the peace of nature in the mountains of Andalucia

During the eight years we have been at La Cazalla, it has become clear to us what a very special location it is to disconnect with the rest of the world and reconnect with nature, friends, family and very importantly, with oneself. The peace and tranquility of La Cazalla’s surroundings, the sound of birdsong, the breeze rustling the leaves on the trees, the smell of lavender, it’s all such a balm on the senses.

Somehow everyone who spends time here is touched by it’s magic, so unchanged are the natural surroundings and so charged with energy, even the busiest executives find themselves slowing down, breathing in the atmosphere and letting it blow away any stress.

Practicing yoga here at La Cazalla has to be one of the most sublime experiences you could imagine…here are three options for you to treat your body and mind to what it deserves.

Our yoga at La Cazalla started with the wonderful José Luis of Yoga Flow Ronda. José has been providing yoga practice for our guests for several years now, it’s such a great way to stretch and relax after your flight or car journey. He is generally available at fairly short notice, is flexible with his schedule and teaches in English or Spanish. What better way to start the day?

José charges €15 per person for an hour’s yoga session at La Cazalla and asks for a minimum of only three people. Mats, blocks and straps are provided.

There are several different locations around the property for our yoga sessions: poolside, or under the olive trees or beside the ancient Roman alberca, whatever the time of day or the size of your group, there is somewhere with the sound of trickling water, accompanied by the stirring of the leaves in the trees and the incredible view of the gorge..

“Wonderful, the best setting for our yoga, thank you.”

Yoga retreats in Andalusia Spain for groups

In 2022, we held our first Yoga Retreat, hosted by Laura Aiken. Laura draws on her experience living, working, and teaching yoga around the world to provide intimate yoga and leadership retreats that empower people to thrive – in work and in life.

A professional chemical engineer, she has lived and worked in four countries and built a successful career in engineering, construction, and program management.

She is a (fierce) workplace diversity and inclusion champion in her industry and has led local and global women’s resource groups. She speaks at universities, companies, societies, and conferences, and writes articles and develops programming to empower women to thrive.

Her curriculum, Leading from Within, teaches a combination of workplace inclusion, holistic leadership, goal-getting, and mindful strategies which she pairs with meditation, yoga, and the power of community in self-led retreats.

She believes that we don’t need to make ourselves sick to be successful, and with a little work on who we are, why we’re here, what we want, and how we go get it, we can all cultivate a life we love. She believes every one of us deserves to thrive.

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a stress cycle? Are there more things in your life draining you than filling you up? Want to step up a gear to a big, bold, life you’re madly in love with?

A retreat is a great way to start the next chapter. It’s the jolt of energy (and community) you need to make a big beautiful change and make it stick!

From holistic practices to clear stress and emotion, to deep personal purpose work, to tiny habits for success – Laura’s got you covered on retreat.

Laura held her second successful retreat here in 2023 and has just confirmed dates for her 2024 retreat - Wednesday, 5th June for 5 nights - you can contact Laura here for more information.

If those dates don’t work for you, we are also delighted to announce that for the first time Sarah Tuke, of Sarah and The Stretch, will be hosting a retreat at La Cazalla, from Thursday, the 16th of May, until Monday, the 20th of May 2024. .

Sarah began her Yoga journey whilst living in Ibiza over twenty years ago. Some ten years later, after many years of suffering from digestive health issues such as IBS, she noticed that a regular Yoga practice improved her condition and overall health. Previous to this, she believed she needed fast-paced exercise, Yoga has taught her the beauty of slowing things down.

Sarah is now mentally and physically stronger than she has ever been, this is due without doubt to the magical benefits of Yoga.

She is a Level 4 British Wheel of Yoga Diploma Teacher. The British Wheel of Yoga is the governing body for Yoga in the UK. This qualification is the highest level of Yoga teaching currently available in the UK.

Sarah has also studied 'Yoga Therapy for Digestive Health' with Yogacampus UK allowing her to teach lessons and workshops with a focus on Digestive issues.

Sarah’s holiday aims to be restorative yet fun, with plenty of time to relax around the pool or explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. It includes three different kinds of yoga each day, all meals and four nights stay at La Cazalla. Find out more from Sarah by contacting her here.

“I have booked numerous properties over the years and this is by far the best I have ever been to. The space, layout and range of facilities ensured that everyone could find a quiet area when they wanted it, but enough communal space to eat indoors, outdoors, up by the pool, or to wander off in the extensive grounds.”

“The villa is really fantastic with SO much space for a large family/group. All 6 rooms have their own en suites/ showers which is ideal (& rare to find) and all rooms were hugely spacious.”
