Frequently Asked Questions

Will we be the only guests staying on the property during our holiday?
Yes. When you are renting the house there are no other guests at the property. We offer complete privacy for our guests and the freedom to enjoy all of the space and amenities of La Cazalla alone. The owners, Lisa and Mark, live in a little casita (small house) in the grounds and are there to ensure everything goes smoothly or if you should need them, but will be invisible if you don’t!

What time will we be able to check-in?
You will need to plan your arrival time for after 4:00pm, as it takes around 5 hours to prepare the house for you when guests leave on the same day. However, please let us know if you have a concern in this regard and we will try to be flexible if we do not have a same-day changeover. Departure time is before 10:00am.

Are bed linen and towels included?
Beautiful bed linen, pillows, blankets, soft bathroom towels and towels for use at the pool are all provided, together with hair dryers in every bedroom and gorgeous Molton Brown toiletries.

What is the electrical voltage within the house?
The European standard is 230/240 volts (compared with 110/120 volts in the USA), but many items are now manufactured to work on either voltage (for instance: phone and laptop chargers). If you are worried we recommend checking if your phone/laptop/iPad etc is compatible with the voltage here and if it is not, you can buy a 'Step Down Voltage Converter' to bring with you (these are not expensive items and can provide peace of mind when charging your valuable electronics).

How do we find you?
La Cazalla is located on the track leading to the Tajo del Abanico, off of Calle Pila Doña Gaspara, 7.8km from the centre of Ronda. Having a car is essential and provides the best means of transport for enjoying all the region has to offer. When your reservation is complete we will provide you with an information pack including directions for how to find and enter the property and we or Cristina, our housekeeper, will be here to meet you on arrival.

Is there a car rental company you recommend?
Find some incredible deals on the doyouspain website.

Do you accept payment via PayPal?
No, but we do use TransferWise instead. It's cheaper, quicker, and more flexible. We prefer payments by bank transfer and once you have decided to come and stay with us, we will provide you with all the information you need. Don't worry! It's easy.

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your reservation, followed by the balance 2 months (60 days) in advance of your arrival date. Reservations made with less than 2 months prior to arrival must send 100% of payment on booking.

Additionally, a EURO500 damage security deposit is required (payable with your balance), which will be returned within 1 week of your departure, provided that no breakage or damage has been caused beyond normal wear and tear, and the house is left in a reasonably clean condition.

We are bringing small children. Do you have a suitable chair and bed?
We have four cots, a baby bath and a high chair. We also have two z-beds which are useful if young children want to sleep in the same room as their parents. Please let us know if you will need them and we will prepare them for you.

Additionally, if you need a babysitter our housekeeper will be happy to assist you. You can discuss your requirements with her directly upon arrival.

Is there somewhere we can wash and dry our clothes?
There is a washing machine, washing line and tumble dryer for you to use, together with laundry detergent, an iron and an ironing board.

Is there somewhere nearby for us to buy food and basic essentials?
There are plenty of stores in Ronda, but all of the supermarkets and shops are closed Sundays so if you are arriving at the weekend you will need to do your shopping on the Saturday, when supermarkets are open until 9:00pm. Only the local garage/gas station is open on a Sunday and they sell bread and a few essentials.

Our kitchen is well-supplied with a professional 4 ring stove and oven, all the cooking utensils you might need, basic pantry items, a dishwasher, a big refrigerator and a huge freezer, microwave, coffee-maker, juicer, and a toaster.

Can you recommend some good restaurants and do we need reservations?
Yes! Go straight to our blog.  You will also find an information pack at the villa with details of local restaurants and how to find them. Reservations are definitely needed for the more popular restaurants in Ronda at peak times.

Celebrations and special events
We think La Cazalla is perfect for hosting parties and celebrations. You are welcome to invite additional guests to join you for the day and we will be happy to help you with organising your special occasion. If you are planning an event for more than 25 guests, we do need to make additional arrangements (for example: extra seating) and therefore an ‘event charge’ applies. Please contact us with details of the occasion and your requirements, and we will be delighted to assist you in creating your perfect party.

Is it possible to make day trips to Granada, Córdoba and Seville?
Yes. All three of these delightful destinations are between a 2-2.5 hour drive from Ronda and you can read our recommendations for one day visits to each city in our blog. We will also be happy to help you plan your route to maximise your enjoyment of your holiday in Andalusia.

Do we need to buy tickets online in advance for popular attractions, such as the Alhambra in Granada, Alcazar in Seville, the Caminito del Rey, etc?
It's a good idea to buy tickets in advance for these popular attractions, especially if you will be visiting during peak season. If you would like more information on how or where to make your booking, please let us know and we will be happy to help you.

Things to do
There's so much to see and do during your holiday in Ronda! If you let us know what particularly interests you, we will be delighted to make some suggestions, and we also provide an information pack at the property containing relevant details to help you get the most out of your visit.

Almost all visitors to Ronda enjoy walking around the historical parts of the town and experiencing the dramatic views from the bridge. If you are not a staunch animal lover, it is interesting to visit the bullring (www.rmcr.org). We recommend one of the many beautiful walks in the area, including the popular one right from our gate through the Tajo del Abanico. A drive through the pueblos blancos (white villages) is spectacular, and you can stop for coffee or lunch in the village of Gaucin, where there are many art and craft shops. How about taking a picnic and driving through the Sierra de Grazalema? You can visit the Cueva de la Pileta to see the cave paintings. Of course, you can simply relax at your luxury villa rental, listen to the birds, cool off in the pool and enjoy the tranquillity of this gorgeous spot…

We are a very active group/family - is there plenty to keep us occupied?
Absolutely. Buggy tours, canoeing, canyoning & rappelling, climbing, cycling, eco-tours, hiking, horse riding, hot air balloon rides, nature walks, paragliding, Via Ferrata... You can choose to do as little or as much as you wish!
